The art project, “A Literary Stroll: Art Bus and Oasis Project,” aims to connect “city” and “theater” through imagination. The project brings together “literary” narratives and theatrical stories to bridge the gap between visual art and literature, introducing interdisciplinary creativeness into public space. The project is divided into two sub-projects. The mobile project, “Art BUS,” which displays paintings on buses, allowing artworks to travel around the city with public transportation to effect intervention. “Oasis Project,” on the other hand, echoes the imagination about mobility realized by Art BUS, and transforms bus stops into mobile museums. Through installing and displaying artworks or literary works in bus stops, these urban oases of art present works by literary writers and artists in different urban corners, achieving the goal of art as intervention and forming an urban theater through the audience’s random encounter with art in the city.

作品材質Material｜紙板、壓克力顏料、紙漿、色紙、Led Paper board, acrylic paint, paper pulp, color paper, LED
創作理念 Concept of Art｜
Bus stations are hubs connecting daily routes and activities, such as leaving and returning home, going to and returning from work, travelling or other daily agenda. However, when standing and waiting for the bus at a station, one rarely pays attention to things other than the bus timetable and ads. Bus stations are like abrupt appearances existing alone on the side of roads in front of empty lots, revealing a sense of déjà vu of looking at some brick houses adjacent to towering buildings. The artist combines bus stations with old-time architectural elements, such as bricks, iron windows and metal sheets. When warm light shines through windows at night, residents’ activities in the building are revealed. Through this work, Liao tries to reverse viewers’ sense of time brought on by transportation facilities like bus stations, creating more connections with viewers’ life experiences when they see a bus station.
藝術家Artist 吳芊頤 Chien-Yi Wu
藝術介紹 About her art｜
Wu specializes in creating mixed media installation. Through her attention to daily urban phenomena and culture, she contemplates on symbols and their relations to relevant interfaces and uses tape – a contemporary processing material – to encode and construct symbols while formulating her distinctive visual vocabularies. In recent years, her experiences of conducting artist residencies and creating site-specific installations have allowed her to develop works with regional features.
作品名稱Artwork Title｜透視窗 Window of Perspective
作品材質Material｜數位輸出、膠帶、壓克力片、卡點西德 Tape, plexiglass, cutting sheet
創作理念 Concept of art｜
Converting urban elements into a color block collage, this work reveals three-dimensional landscape with an interplay of light and colors on a two-dimensional surface, transforming a bus station into a scenic window installation. With the interaction and connection between people and thewindow, it captures and defines their relationship, immersing viewers in fascinating changing light, shadow and color blocks. As a site-specific installation, it is incorporated with symbols that people are familiar with, which are amalgamated to reshape the urban landscape. Window grids and data are simplified into elements that are blended to recreate an interface in the form of a window, a metaphor for a new vision, a new dimension and an open mind. The integration of old and new cultures provides viewers a new perspective that not only allows all to see the surrounding environment but also reveals things we have been looking for in the city.
藝術家Artist｜糖果鳥 Candy Bird
藝術介紹About his art｜
Candy Bird launched his career as a street graffiti artist with works exploring issues related to urban society and marginality. From 2010 onward, he hasstarted using graffiti as his instrument to convey viewpoints overlooked by the mainstream while observing and participating in resistance, attempting to realize the ideal of making art for the society. His main approach is to integrate existing objects in the environment with intangible historical context. In recent years, he also engages in interdisciplinary collaborations incorporating amateur literature, experimenting with subject exchange and unification to deconstruct the singularity of traditional graffiti and street wall painting while directing the audience’s attention to a potential dialogue between their living experience and other’s life.

創作理念Concept of art｜
In addition to delineating daily scenes of urban life, current events and daily news also form a source of inspiration for my creative work, with which I offer my interpretation with visual art and uncover the undefined space beneath the surface. I shall not yet reveal the current event that has inspired this work. I can only say that it is related to Taiwan but does not take place on this island. Viewers can interpret this work from their own points of view.
藝術家｜姜名駿、大橋頭藝術工作室 Chiang Ming Chun、studio BHA
藝術介紹 About their art｜
Chiang Ming Chun and Chou Hsueh Han are the main figures that lead studioBHA. Using “structure” as the core concept of their installations, they do not simply discuss“structure” in terms of the sculptural aspect, but also explore “relations” between the environment, cities, people and communities. Every region has different structural possibilities, and studio BHA reflects on the unique “structural technology”of every place, creating installation projects that correspond to individual regions. This project is one of many under the creative project, entitled 0000s, which“employs art to read a city and introduce more possibilities into the environment one dwells.”
作品名稱Artwork Title｜0000_魟魚 0000_ray
作品材質Material｜布料、Led燈光系統Fabric, LED light system
創作理念Concept of art｜
“Viewing and being viewed always constitutes an interactive relationship between human beings and cities. Using personified sculptural objects as a method, this project aims to extend the imagination about people and this world they inhabit.”
One of the sub-projects under the creative project 0000s, this work adopts the image of a creature as an artistic approach and the public art theme. Bus station has always been a node for pausing and waiting. Through embedding sculptural works in bus stations, the original meaning of bus stations is changed with the approach of personification, bringing about more imagination.
